Well helloooo there. Welcome back to Girls on Film. Following from our last post it only seems fit to present to you a woman who is to Paris what Alexa Chung is to London- a cultural and style icon. I came across this model, singer and actress in 2010 when I saw her on Vimeo in Vanessa Bruno’s short promotional film ‘La Belle Ete’. Her presence on camera had me enamoured as she ducked and swirled through an empty, dishevelled old house, dancing through piles of flower and winding flowing ribbons through her hands before stopping in her tracks, moved to tears by a handsome pianist. Her grace, her enthusiasm and her ability to convey emotion through so many different mediums are probably why her romantic old city love her so much. I give to you Lou Doillon.
Boyish parisian chic Doillon: Baker boy caps, Breton striped shirts, chunky knits, messy hair and braces characterise her signature daytime style.
Super mega casual Lou: She’s also fond of the t-shirt and jeans aesthetic. I had to include these images because she pulls of jeans with a tee, vest or plaid shirt so effortlessly well. She actually makes it look incredibly cool! I think it’s having the balls to know that with charisma like hers she doesn’t have to try too hard.
Oh so hip Lou: Like the Chung maestro this woman knows how to work a weighty coat and a big hat. She tends to stick to simple style staples, belted drainpipes and tees plus Fedoras and slouchy, oversized outer layers.
Rock n’ Roll Lou: Beaten up leather jackets, hats and band tees plus sheers, velvets, pointy leather boots and military jackets. This musical it girl knows how to channel her inner rock star.
These gorgeous images were shot by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia. The tattoo on her arm reads ‘Marlowe’, her sons name.
Red carpet Doillon: for occasion-wear she keeps things black and tres tres sexy! Sheers, lace, plunging necklines and split thigh skirts make a regular appearance.
Suited Doillon: Madame Doillon is no stranger to a well cut suit. She often goes for quirky masculine cuts with top hats and boxy jackets.
