Our Herbology print was hand-drawn and painted over 60 hours by me, Jenny Cook- owner of Cosmic Drifters, artist, designer and all around mega geek from Leeds. It features an array of mystical plants from J. K. Rowling’s Potterverse that I drew and painted with water colours before scanning them into Photoshop and working them into a repeating print. I then wrote a list of the names for each plant in both English and Latin which I asked my Nan to reproduce by hand in her gorgeous script-like handwriting before layering this text among my illustrations.
Once the print was complete I sent the design off to my fabric suppliers to be printed onto gorgeous, lightweight crepe and began work designing five floaty, feminine, bohemian garments to showcase the light and dreamy print. When I design clothing I always make the original patterns to fit myself, photograph the sample on myself and grade my patterns according to customer’s measurements to ensure that they get the perfect fit. My design process is a labour of love!
